PROJECTS

High schools in low-income communities in our country are unable to offer Computer studies due to the lack of computer equipment and trained educators.

The RedCap Foundation has partnered with the Dell Foundation, Durban University of Technology (DUT), Microsoft and Mindset Learning to facilitate the delivery of computer rooms and train educators in 10 High Schools in Kwa Zulu Natal. This project is helping to bridge the digital divide that exists in our country that could result in learners being computer literate.  Twenty educators are trained on computer skills in order to assist learners in subjects such as Maths, Science and Computer studies. Because of this project approximately 2000 learners in Grades 11 and 12 in these schools are following a structured computer programme.
Due to the sustainable nature of the project, this initiative will continue to result in this benefit to new grades in these schools every year. We plan to roll this project out to another 10 schools.
